Nike has signed a multi-year partnership with Mumbai Indians to become the official kit partner for both the franchise’s men’s and women’s teams in India, starting with the 2027 season.

The deal covers match kits, training apparel and sportswear for players, coaches and technical staff.

The partnership marks Nike’s return to a prominent role in Indian franchise cricket, with the sportswear brand set to outfit both teams across match play and training. Athletes and staff will begin wearing Nike gear in October, while the new kits will be unveiled ahead of the teams’ respective 2027 seasons. Financial terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.

Beyond the playing kit

The collaboration will also extend into fan merchandise and apparel inspired by Mumbai’s identity, with Nike and Mumbai Indians planning products and storytelling that connect cricket with the city’s wider sporting culture. Further details on the merchandise range are expected in the coming weeks.

Tarundeep Singh, General Manager, Nike India, said, “Cricket is woven into the heartbeat of India, and few teams capture its energy like Mumbai Indians.”

“Mumbai Indians have always been about more than cricket,” said Devang Bhimjyani, Head of Reliance Sports, adding that the collaboration would aim to connect cricket and culture and take the spirit of the franchise to fans around the world.

India batter Tilak Varma, who represents Mumbai Indians and is a Nike athlete, also welcomed the partnership, describing the coming together of the two brands as personal to his journey.

The agreement covers both the men’s IPL team and the women’s WPL team, giving Nike a presence across Mumbai Indians’ two major Indian franchise competitions.
