Delhi: The Indian cricket team is going to start its campaign in the Asian Games 2026 with the quarter-final match. The team captained by Shreyas Iyer will face Afghanistan on September 28. This match is also special because India and Afghanistan also came face to face in the final of the 2023 Asian Games.

After the match played against Japan on September 22, a big change can be seen in the playing-11 of Team India. The return of star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah to the team is considered certain.

Bumrah returns, this player will be on leave

Jasprit Bumrah can be included in the playing-11 in the quarter-finals against Afghanistan. Bumrah was rested in the match against Japan.

Now after his return, Yash Thakur may have to sit out. Bumrah will handle the responsibility of the new ball along with Arshdeep Singh.

Sundar will also get a chance

After Nitish Reddy was out of the Asian Games squad, Washington Sundar got his place in the team. Sundar was given a chance in the playing-11 against Japan and he is expected to remain there against Afghanistan also.

Sundar can prove useful for the team with both ball and bat. Apart from this, he also strengthens the spin option with Ravi Bishnoi.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi will have to wait again

Fans of 15 year old young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi may be disappointed once again. Even in the quarter-finals against Afghanistan, his chances of getting a place in the playing-11 are less.

The team management has kept Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson as the first choice for opening. In such a situation, Vaibhav may have to sit on the bench and wait for his turn.

These batsmen will take responsibility along with Iyer

After Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan may get the role of wicketkeeper. After this, captain Shreyas Iyer will bat at number-4.

Tilak Verma and Shivam Dubey will also be part of the team. Both the batsmen can score fast runs as per requirement and can also provide options in bowling.

Bishnoi will be the only specialist spinner

Ravi Bishnoi's role will be important in India's bowling. He can play as the only specialist spinner of the team.

Apart from them, Akshar Patel and Washington Sundar will be present in the team as two all-rounders. That means India will have three spin options, while Bumrah and Arshdeep will handle the responsibility of fast bowling.
