Tezzbuzz Desk- Preparations of political parties for the 2027 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh have intensified. Samajwadi Party has also started efforts to strengthen the election strategy up to the booth level. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav has given the party workers a target of increasing 27 thousand votes in every assembly constituency. For this, emphasis is being laid on door-to-door contact, use of technology and connecting new voters with the party.

Akhilesh Yadav gave information about this strategy after the state executive meeting in Lucknow on September 20. He said that the party will work towards the target of increasing its vote count by 27 thousand in every assembly constituency. He also described it as a similar reduction in BJP's votes. The party's emphasis is on reaching out to such families who, according to it, have been affected by injustice or atrocities.

Booth level activism is considered important in SP's strategy. The target of increasing 27 thousand votes in an assembly constituency with about 3 thousand booths works out to an average of about 90 additional votes per booth. For this reason the role of booth workers increases. Even before this, the party has worked on the strategy of adding new voters at every booth. In August 2026, SP had asked booth level agents to add at least five new voters at every booth.

For SP, the 2022 assembly elections are also a basis of this strategy. In that election, the party had won 111 seats, while the BJP had won 255 seats. Now SP's focus is not limited to just saving its won seats, but it is also trying to strengthen its hold in those assembly constituencies where the last time the contest was relatively close.

In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the SP-Congress alliance got the lead in many assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh. Although it would not be appropriate to consider the figures of Lok Sabha and Assembly elections as direct results of each other, but for SP, the performance of 2024 is definitely a reference for assessing the organization and vote base.

Along with the use of technology in election preparations, Akhilesh Yadav has also emphasized on door-to-door contact. Party workers have been asked to listen to people's problems, understand their concerns and communicate on issues of justice and respect. SP is also preparing to give prominence to issues to farmers in its campaign. These include issues like diesel, petrol, fertilizers, pesticides and crop prices.

Along with this, SP is also taking forward its PDA strategy. Information about the release of the seventh audit report of PDA has also come to light in the party's state executive meeting. The party's effort is to strengthen its organization and political base among the backward, Dalit and minority classes.

On the other hand, BJP is also busy in strengthening the organization at the booth level keeping 2027 in mind. In such a situation, booth management, connecting new voters and reaching out to different social groups may remain major strategic issues in the electoral politics of UP in the future.

Overall, Akhilesh Yadav's formula of 27 thousand votes is part of the strategy to activate the SP's organization from the assembly to the booth level. The party aims to expand its reach to new voters and new social groups while retaining existing supporters. However, what kind of impact this strategy will have in the elections can be assessed only on the basis of the actual inclination of the voters during the elections and seat-wise competition.
