Kanpur. Incubated deep-tech startup from IIT Kanpur marks a new achievement in the field of Indian robotics. xTerra Robotics has developed a robot-dog with wheels and legs named 'DHAV-Hy'. This robot can move at high speed with the help of wheels on open and flat paths, while it can move with the help of legs in areas like rough ground, slopes and stairs. According to the company, it has been designed for tasks like security, surveillance, industrial inspection and autonomous field operation.
Maximum speed of DHAV-Hy 5 meters per second i.e. about 18 kilometers per hour It has been told. It is available in different types of areas weight up to 10 kg Capable of carrying. The combination of wheels and legs has been tried to give it high speed as well as better maneuverability on difficult terrain.
The robot is designed to walk on slopes, stairs, rough roads and suddenly changing surfaces. According to the company, its aim is to develop the ability to work even in such areas where traditional wheeled robots are not easily accessible.
To DHAV-Hy Security, Surveillance and Industrial Inspection It has been developed keeping such areas in mind. According to the company, its pilot projects to inspection are also going on in different industries. Such robots can be useful in places where it is difficult or risky for humans to work.
According to the company, DHAV-Hy has been completely designed, engineered and manufactured in India. Indigenous robotics technology and in-house actuator technology have been used in its development.
According to xTerra Robotics, the wheeled version of DHAV-Hy Research and development since three months The work was going on. Its purpose is to combine the ability of the legged robot to cross difficult terrain with the movement of the wheels.
The company said that DHAV-Hy has been designed keeping in mind the needs of field operations. Its lightweight design, speed and ability to reach difficult terrain make it part of robotic platforms being developed for industrial and other field uses.
A four-legged robotic dog has already been demonstrated by students and researchers associated with IIT Kanpur. Such robots are being developed for use on construction sites, low-oxygen areas, and places where it may be difficult or unsafe for humans to perform inspections or engineering tests.
DHAV-Hy is a new step in this direction with a combination of wheels and legs. It aims to combine the needs of tough terrain access, high speed and industrial applications in a single robotic platform.
