New Delhi. This statement of Samajwadi Party MP Virendra Singh comes after the Election Commission (ECI) has issued a notice to verify the SIR details of 33 lakh voters. Let us inform that this statement has been given on the notice of ECI to verify the SIR details of 33 lakh voters including CM Rekha Gupta and Arvind Kejriwal. Mr Singh has launched a major political attack on BJP's strategy. He said that on the ECI notice, BJP has very cleverly protected the Election Commissioner. Otherwise, how many dozen FIRs would have been lodged against the Election Commissioner? He kept on getting bail all his life, but he did not get bail.
Rajya Sabha MP and senior advocate Kapil Sibal claimed on Sunday, September 20, that the notice has been issued to him amid the ongoing Special Intensive Review (SIR) in Delhi. Let us tell you that earlier similar news had come about Delhi CM Rekha Gupta, former CM Arvind Kejriwal and their family members.
Now a press release has been issued by the State Election Commission on these claims and news. The Commission has said that the issuance of the notice does not mean that the name of the concerned voter will be removed from the voter list of Delhi. According to the Commission, these are system generated notices. Their purpose is to correct the voters' data in ECINET. The Commission also clarified that the name of any voter cannot be removed from the list without giving him an opportunity of being heard.
Draft made on the basis of information given in the form
The Commission said in the release that the draft list was prepared on the basis of the information that voters had given in the enumeration form given to the BLO. The draft voter list came on 31 August 2026. This draft list is available on the website of CEO Delhi, ERO and AERO offices of assembly constituencies, polling stations.
According to the Commission, notices have been sent to those voters who could not be linked to the voter list of the previous intensive revision or in whose linking any discrepancy was found. After receiving the notice, the concerned voters can submit their answers and necessary documents to the concerned ERO or BLO. The Commission said that this list from ECI is not final.
Disposal of notice by 29th October
The State Election Commission informed that as per the scheduled schedule of SIR 2026, the disposal of the cases to the notice will be completed by 29 October 2026. The names of such voters will be included in the final voter list to be published on 4 November 2026.
