An impressive performance from Imran Tahir has set up the Guyana Amazon Warriors for a 4-wicket victory against the Saint Lucia Kings in the CPL 2026, played in Guyana.

He took 5/17 to set up a victory for the Guyana Amazon Warriors. With this win, the Amazon Warriors secured a top spot in the CPL 2026 points table.

Batting first, Tim Seifert and Kamil Pooran opened the innings, but Seifert was dismissed cheaply for four.

With Kamil Pooran and John Campbell at the crease, Saint Lucia Kings scored 51 runs in the powerplay. Mehidy Hasan Miraz bagged the wicket of Campbell for 12 while Imran Tahir dismissed Kamil Pooran for 43 runs.

Imran Tahir bagged his second wicket, sending back Chase for 1 run. Miraz bagged his second wicket, dismissing Kemol for 2 runs. Miraz bagged his third wicket, dismissing Charith Asalanka for 8 runs as Saint Lucia Kings lost 6 wickets for 72 runs.

Despite Obus Pienaar’s resistance, Imran Tahir bagged the wickets of McKenny Clarke, Matthew Forde and Joshua Bishop for 0, 0 and 5 runs respectively.

Obus Pienaar added 35 runs off 28 deliveries before being dismissed by Romario Shepherd. By the end of 20 overs, Saint Lucia Kings scored 119 and lost all 10 wickets.

Imran Tahir bagged five wickets while Mehidy Hasan Miraz bagged three wickets. Chasing a 120-run target, Glenn Phillips and Mavendra Dindyal opened the innings while Matthew Forde opened the bowling attack.

Roston Chase bagged the first wicket, dismissing Mavendra Dindyal for 5 runs. Despite Glenn Phillips and Shai Hope at the crease, Amazon Warriors scored 23 runs in the powerplay.

The duo forged a 53-run partnership before the dismissal of Phillips for 37 runs by Maheesh Theekshana.

Roston Chase bagged the wickets of Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shimron Hetmyer for 1 and 14 runs. However, Quentin Sampson smashed an unbeaten 37 as Guyana Amazon Warriors completed the chase in the 19th over.

His knock came off 11 deliveries, which included 1 four and 5 sixes. Roston Chase bagged three wickets for Kings, while Forde, Maheesh Theekshana and Charith Asalanka bagged one wicket each.

Imran Tahir was named player of the match. Speaking at the post-match presentation, Tahir said, “Yeah, look, I’ve been waiting for that for a long time, to be honest with you. But for me, I think my role is obviously to contain in the middle. I am an attacking bowler, you know; the wickets come, I don’t mind. But I think my son, he’s the main guy who’s been pushing me.”
