Lucknow. The protest by farmers under the banner of Rashtriya Kisan Mazdoor Sangathan continued for the third day on Friday, demanding construction and asphalting of dilapidated roads in Nagaram area. Teams of PWD, Forest Department and Revenue Department reached the protest site to talk to the farmers. The officials first got the three routes measured, then held talks with the farmers, but no consensus could be reached. The farmers made it clear that the protest will not be ended until the work on the roads starts.

On Friday, PWD Assistant Engineer Surya Mani Mishra, Arvind Kumar Manjhi, Junior Engineer Sanjay Kumar along with Surveyor and Forest Department Assistant Engineer Devesh Kumar along with his team reached the protest site along with Naib Tehsildar, Kanungo and Lekhpal. State president of the organization Pratap Bahadur demanded the officials to get the roads measured first. After this the team started measuring the Kamalapur-Vichilakha road from Kubhara.

When the officers reached the protest site after completion of the measurement, the organization's state general secretary Dinesh Yadav demanded measurement of two other routes as well. After this, measurement was also done from Tikra intersection to Newajkheda Kharanja road and Devikheda police post to Rambakshkheda road.

After completion of measurement of all three routes, officials of PWD, Forest Department and Revenue Department held talks with the farmers. Farmers sought answers from officials regarding departmental hurdles in road construction. There was also discussion regarding issuance of No Objection Certificate (NOC) by the Forest Department.

Divisional General Secretary of the organization Haripal Singh said that on the first day of the protest, the Forest Department officials had assured to issue NOC within a week. On this, the Assistant Forest Officer assured the farmers that in any case, action will be taken to issue NOC within a week. PWD officials said that as soon as the forest department's permission is obtained, steam estimates of all three roads will be prepared and asphalt will be asphalted soon.

The officials appealed to the farmers to end the protest, but the farmers did not accept it. Farmers said that mere assurance is not enough for the roads which have been in bad condition for years. The agitation will continue until the asphalting work starts on the spot. After this the talks remained inconclusive and the farmers decided to continue the strike.
