Bhopal: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has crossed an important milestone in the case of the death of model and actress Twisha Sharma. The investigating agency has filed a detailed 1,000-page charge sheet in the special court of Bhopal, accusing Twisha's husband Samarth Singh and former district judge mother-in-law Giribala Singh of abetting suicide. CBI says that the continuous mental cruelty and torture inflicted by her in-laws had broken the actress to such an extent that she was left with no other option but to end her life. However, the agency is still keeping its investigation open on aspects to dowry harassment and dowry deaths.


Breathing stopped after just five months of marriage


33-year-old Twisha Sharma and Samarth Singh got married on 9 December 2025. Just five months after the marriage, on May 12, Twisha's body was found hanging at her in-laws' house in Bhopal.


On the night of the incident, Samarth took him to AIIMS Bhopal, where doctors declared him dead.

Following serious allegations by the family and shortcomings in the initial investigation, the Madhya Pradesh High Court intervened in the case and ordered a second post-mortem by a four-member team of AIIMS Delhi. After this, the responsibility of investigation was handed over to CBI, which took action and arrested the husband and mother-in-law and sent them to jail.


Counseling records and WhatsApp chats become important evidence


In the charge sheet presented in the special court of Judge Shobhana Bhalvi, CBI has based digital and oral evidence. The investigation team has included counseling documents, WhatsApp message conversations and witness statements as evidence, which confirm that Twisha was being subjected to continuous mental and physical torture. The family members of the deceased welcomed the charge sheet and said that it clearly depicts the role and cruelty of the accused. Lawyers of the family say that after the forensic reports come, names of other people can also be added under the sections of tampering with evidence.
