Lucknow. The Uttar Pradesh Tennis Association and Kesari Sports jointly organized the AITA Championship Series (Under-14 and Under-16) on Thursday, hosting thrilling semi-final matches. The matches, held at the Vijayant Khand Mini Stadium Tennis Arena in Gomti Nagar, saw several major upsets. The young players performed brilliantly and secured a place in the finals.
In the Under-16 Boys category, fifth-seeded Rohin Raj of Uttar Pradesh caused the biggest upset. He defeated top-seeded Kinjalak Srivastava 9-8 (5) in a close contest to reach the final. In the tie-break, Rohin played brilliantly under pressure, winning the decisive points. In the other semifinal, fourth-seeded Virat Singh of Uttar Pradesh defeated second-seeded Arjun Sharma 9-6 to secure his place in the title clash.
Both the semi-final matches of the girls under-16 singles category were full of upsets. Eighth seed Ashika Jaiswal of West Bengal defeated third seed Aditi Singh of UP 9-8 (3) in a thrilling match to book a ticket to the final. Meanwhile, Soundarya Jaiswal of UP gave a brilliant performance and defeated seventh seed Siddhi Singh 9-4 in a one-sided match. In the girls under-14 category, fourth seed Aashi Kiran played a brilliant game. She created a big upset by defeating top seed Anaya Sen 9-4 and entered the final.
In the Boys Under-14 category, seeded players maintained their dominance. Top seed Rabib Ali Khan defeated third seed Yuvraj Singh 9-3, while second seed Tejas Singh defeated Aarav Shukla 9-3 to reach the final. Following the results of the semi-final matches, the tournament final will now see a title battle between young players.
