On Monday, the Rugby Premier League (RPL) introduced the official ball for its upcoming Season 2 in Hyderabad. This event gathered captains from all ten participating teams just a day prior to the league's commencement at Gachibowli Stadium. The ceremony was attended by Rugby India President and League Commissioner Rahul Bose, along with GMR Sports CMO Sujoy Ganguly.

Captains Representing Their Teams

The men's teams were represented by the following captains: Patrick Odongo from Delhi Redz, Manuel Moreno from Hyderabad Heroes, Ricardo Duarttee from Kolkata Banga Tigers, Santiago Alvarez from Chennai Bulls, Impi Visser from Mumbai Dreamers, and Ngarohi McGarvey-Black from Bengaluru Bravehearts. The women's teams were represented by Eden Kilgour from Delhi Redz, Shiniqwa Lamprecht from Kolkata Banga Tigers, Chantelle Miell from Chennai Bulls, and Abigail Brown from Mumbai Dreamers.

Rugby Primer Conducted by Rahul Bose

Before the ball unveiling, Rahul Bose led a Rugby Primer session with twelve young players from Telangana Rugby, emphasizing five fundamental principles of the sport:

1. **Run Forward, Pass Backwards**: Players aim for the opponent's try line but can only pass the ball sideways or backwards.

2. **Tackle to Win Possession**: Defenders aim to stop the attacking team by tackling the ball carrier.

3. **Release the Ball After a Tackle**: A tackled player must place or release the ball behind them for teammates to continue the play.

4. **Kick as a Tactical Weapon**: Players can kick the ball forward to gain ground or create scoring chances, with teammates pursuing to regain possession.

5. **Score a Try**: The main goal is to carry the ball over the opponent's try line and ground it to score.
