An iconic UK seaside town has been dealt a huge boost ahead of the summer months. It has been confirmed that a major 164ft attraction will open along its famous seafront in May.

A new giant wheel has been installed in Great Yarmouth, giving visitors sweeping views of the coastline. It is believed to be similar in size and shape to the original attraction, installed in May 2022. The wheel, standing at around one-third of the size of the London Eye, was due to remain at the seafront until 2027, but permission was granted last month to dismantle it and subsequently move it 50m north to South Beach Garden.

Great Yarmouth Borough Council said on Facebook: "Exciting news for Great Yarmouth! We've secured a brand new Big Wheel for the seafront, opening just in time for the summer season.

"Get ready to experience stunning new views across the coastline and town from above - a fresh perspective you won't want to miss. Opening soon...keep an eye out for details!"

The previous wheel boasted 36 carriages and also stood at 164ft (50m) tall. The main difference is that the new one is facing in the opposite direction.

The previous wheel in Great Yarmouth has a number of glowing reviews on TripAdvisor. A number of visitors noted the amazing views from the attraction.
