Presenter Lorraine Kelly has shared an update on the future of her ITV show. It comes as she announced that she is soon set to release a second novel, called The Island Secret.
Taking to Instagram, the 66-year-old TV host shared a sneak peek at her book as she announced some tour dates. She is set to visit various cities across the UK from June 13 to July 4. Captioning the post, she excitably wrote: "BIG NEWS! so excited to be heading on tour to talk about my new book, The Island Secret. I'm looking forward to meeting you and having a chat. Dates and tickets are listed in the link in my bio x". While many people were excited for her and her latest venture, one person was more concerned about the future of her ITV show. They commented: "I miss you in the mornings. Bring back Lorraine for an hour," to which Lorraine replied with a two-word update on her show: "Thanks Sally - much appreciated and back soon."
It follows Lorraine being hit by cuts at ITV. From January onwards, her programme has been slashed to just 30 weeks each year, rather than airing every weekday all year round.
It has also been trimmed from an hour-long format to a mere 30-minute slot. The Scottish presenter has now removed all references to the programme from her Instagram bio, with fans fearing that it might not return after its current hiatus.
The ITV daytime show has reportedly seen a recent drop in viewing figures just as the Scottish host's contract is due to end later this year - and there is no sign whether or not it will be extended.
Despite rumours about the show's future, ITV have confirmed that there are no plans for further modifications.
A spokesperson stated: "As we shared last year, both Lorraine and Loose Women now air seasonally throughout the year, and there are no plans to change this.
"We are incredibly proud of both programmes at ITV and all they continue to achieve - the BAFTA-nominated Lorraine and the RTS award-winning Loose Women.
"They are a much-loved part of our ITV Daytime family, and we can't wait to have them both back on screen in the next couple of weeks."
According to reports, Lorraine will be back on screens from Monday, May 4.
