
The country's largest airline company Indigo on Monday announced the appointment of Alok Singh, former managing director of Air India Express, as its Chief Strategy Officer (CSO). This appointment has taken place at a time when not even two weeks have passed since the sudden resignation of IndiGo Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Peter Elbers.
Indigo said that Alok Singh will prepare the long-term strategy of the company. He will work on increasing the growth of the company, improving operations and strengthening competition. His focus will be on improving customer experience and increasing the efficiency of the company. He will currently report to Managing Director Rahul Bhatia, until the new CEO is appointed.
Alok Singh has more than 30 years of aviation experience. He has worked in strategy, operations, planning and commercial areas. He has previously been the MD and CEO of Air India Express. There he played an important role in the rapid growth and improvement of the airline. Before this, he had also worked in senior positions in Air India and Oman Air.
His new role aims to strengthen IndiGo's global expansion plans. The aim is to make the company faster, stronger and future-ready and to further improve its expansion and operations in new markets.
Managing Director of the company, Rahul Bhatia said that Alok Singh has excellent ability of strategic vision and operational capability. He said that he has a comprehensive understanding of aviation systems, which will be of great use to us as we grow and build a more strong, capable and future-ready organization. For now, Alok Singh will report directly to me. As soon as the new CEO takes over, he will report to him.
