Gandhinagar. Amid rumors spreading about shortage of petrol and diesel in some cities of Gujarat, the state government, Indian Oil Corporation and Petroleum Dealers Association issued a joint statement on Monday. In this statement, the general public was assured that there is sufficient stock of petrol and diesel available in the state and there is no shortage of any kind.
Mona Khandhar, Additional Chief Secretary, Food and Civil Supplies Department, said that petrol and diesel are available in sufficient quantity as per the requirement at all the petrol pumps in the state. He appealed to the citizens not to panic unnecessarily and avoid standing in long queues at petrol pumps. He also informed that there is sufficient 'buffer stock' present in the state, due to which the supply will not be affected in case of any emergency.

The Additional Chief Secretary clarified that the news of shortage of petrol and diesel at some places is completely a rumour. If any dealer deliberately keeps the pumps closed or harasses people, strict legal action will be taken against him.
State Nodal Officer and Executive Director of Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) Sanjib Kumar Behera said that sufficient quantity of petrol and diesel is available in all the depots and terminals of Gujarat. He said that citizens will get fuel as per their requirement at any time, hence there is no need to panic or stand in queues.
The president of Bharat Petroleum Dealers Association said that oil companies have extended the supply time and reserves have also been increased. He appealed to the people not to believe in rumors or wrong messages spreading on social media and not to crowd petrol pumps.
The government and oil companies have made it clear that there is no shortage of petrol and diesel in Gujarat. In the coming time also, fuel supply will remain completely normal and citizens will not face any problem.
