Income certificate in India can be applied for in two ways –
1. Online (sitting at home)
2. Offline (by visiting government office)
Nowadays most people adopt online method because it is easy and time saving.
Online application can be done sitting at home. For this one has to go to the state government website and fill the form. Documents are scanned and uploaded and the status of the application can also be seen online.
In offline mode one has to go to tehsil or revenue office. There the form has to be filled and photocopies of all the documents have to be submitted. You may have to go to the office again to know the situation.
Different states have their own websites, like e-District, MeeSeva, Seva Sindhu etc.
Register- First of all go to the respective website of your state. Create a new account with the help of mobile number and e-mail.
Fill the application form- After login, select the option ‘Apply for Income Certificate’. Fill name, address, family information and income details carefully.
Upload documents- Scan the required documents and upload them on the website.
Pay the fee- A small fee has to be paid as per the state. This payment can be done through UPI, Net Banking or other online methods.
Submit the form- After submitting the form, you get a receipt or application number. Keep it safely, because this is how the status of the application can be seen.
Identity Proof- Any one of Aadhar Card, Voter ID, PAN Card or Passport.
Address proof- Aadhar card, ration card, electricity or water bill.
Income proof – Salary slip or Form 16 for those who are employed. Income tax return or self declaration for business or other income.
Other documents- Passport size photograph and signed declaration form.
When the application is accepted, a message comes on the mobile.
Login to the same website.
Go to application status or certificate download option.
Enter application number.
Download the digital signature certificate.
Sometimes even after online application, investigation can be done by the local officer.
The income certificate is usually valid for one financial year.
The certificate issued online is valid in all government departments.
