Sweden is enhancing its footprint in India. According to Ambassador Jan Thesleff, a five-year roadmap has been established to double the influx of Swedish investments and job opportunities. With more than 280 Swedish enterprises currently operational, emphasizing innovation and manufacturing, this growth aligns seamlessly with India's 'Make in India' initiative.

Sweden views India as a preferred investment destination, with Swedish companies actively expanding in India and focusing on manufacturing and innovation

Thesleff has emphasized strong business ties centered on innovation and the green transition, with over 280 Swedish companies operating in India and actively expanding their operations in sectors like manufacturing, digitalization, and research. The bilateral relationship focuses on strategic collaboration, with a goal to potentially triple trade and investment, and a strong alignment with India's "Make in India" initiative through local sourcing and full supply chain integration.

"We should double, and in fact triple the trade and investment between the two nations during the next five years,” according to Thesleff.

According to Swedish Embassy numbers, over 280 Swedish companies currently operate in India, actively contributing to the country’s economic and sustainability goals. These companies employ over 220,000 people directly in India, with an additional 2.2 million people indirectly employed, particularly through investments in local manufacturing and sourcing.
