Chief Minister's Plea for Urgent Assistance
Shimla: Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu of Himachal Pradesh has voiced his concerns regarding the Central Government's lack of action in providing a special relief package for the state, which has been severely affected by recent disasters.
In a heartfelt message shared on his official social media account, Sukhu expressed his sorrow for the thousands of families who have suffered the loss of their homes, livelihoods, and loved ones due to the calamities.
“Our community has faced immense devastation — homes have been destroyed and lives disrupted. Regrettably, we have yet to receive any special relief package from the Centre. The longer we wait for assistance, the more painful it becomes,” he stated.
The Chief Minister highlighted that, despite the state's limited resources, the government has been working diligently to provide timely support to all affected families. He stressed the necessity of prompt assistance, asserting, “Timely relief is the only genuine relief.”
Sukhu further criticized the Central Government's inaction, questioning, “As the people's grief reaches new heights, whose interests does this silence serve? Is disaster relief to be politicized?”
Reiterating his call for action, he urged the Centre to promptly release a special disaster relief package for Himachal Pradesh. “We once again implore the Central Government to act swiftly and announce the special relief package without further delay.”
These remarks come as Himachal Pradesh continues to suffer from the effects of relentless rains, flash floods, and landslides, which have resulted in significant loss of life and property across various districts.
